The Rev. Al Sharpton will lead a “march against police violence” in D.C. next week.
The families of Michael Brown, Eric Garner and Akai Gurley — three black men who were killed in separate incidents by a police officer while unarmed — are scheduled to attend, according to Sharpton’s National Action Network.
“We are dealing with a national crisis,” Sharpton said at a press conference Wednesdy attended by Garner’s widow, Esaw Garner. “How many people have to die before people understand this is not an illusion? This is a reality that American has got to come to terms with.”
The National March Against Police Violence is scheduled to take place on Saturday, December 13. “It is time for a national march to deal with a national crisis,” Sharpton said.
