Officers from the Metropolitan Police Department responded to an incident this morning wherein a teen who was stabbed in the lower back in Shaw rode the Metro to the Chinatown station to evade his attackers.

According to a MPD public information officer, police met the 14-year-old male at the Chinatown Metro station after receiving reports from other passengers of a passenger on a Green or Yellow line train suffering from a stab wound.

A preliminary investigation found that the teen had been stabbed just after 8 a.m. near the intersection of 9th and T Street NW. After the teen was assaulted, police say he hopped on the Metro to evade his attackers. When paramedics met the teen, he was conscious and breathing, suffering from non-life threatening injuries.

An investigation is currently under way, and police are looking for two male suspects, but other than that, a description of the attackers hasn’t yet been released.
