
Marion Barry departed the John A. Wilson Building for a final time Friday, as his body was taken from the atrium near his Council office to a hearse that will travel the streets of D.C. this morning.
The processional, mapped below by the City Paper, will take Barry’s body from downtown D.C. through Southeast D.C. and eventually to Ward 8, which Barry represented on the Council.
From 1 p.m. to 6 p.m., the public may visit Barry’s body at the Temple of Praise on Southern Avenue SE. A community service, with remarks by the Rev. Al Sharpton, will follow at 7 p.m. Saturday, a public viewing will take place at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. A public celebration service will follow at 11 a.m.
