If you were stranded in the Great Metro Flooding of 2014 (a term I just made up right now. Copyright Matt Cohen 2014) this morning, well, sorry. It was probably a nightmare.
The good news is that normal Metrorail service has returned to the Blue, Orange, and Silver Lines. The bad news is that DC Water crews are still working to repair the big water main break, which has closed 12 Street NW between E and F Streets. Crews say that stretch of road will most likely remain closed through the evening commute.
Anyway, in case you were wondering what a flooded Metro station looks like, WMATA tweeted some pictures. The water has since receded, but damn, that’s a lot of water. I’m no expert, but it doesn’t look safe to go swimming in that. You probably shouldn’t go swimming in a flooded Metro station, in case that thought crossed your mind. I know it looks tempting, but don’t do it. It’s gross.
