The Washington Humane Society will offer discounted adoptions on larger dogs to begin 2015.
The adoption fee for dogs over 30 pounds will be reduced from $170 to $30 on January 3 and 4. While the fee is discounted, the adoption process is the same, and D.C. adopters must purchase a $15 dog license.
Last year, WHS waived adoption fees around Christmas to deal with a large influx of animals. The agency ended the year with an over 80 percent live-release rate.
Update: There are 181 animals available for adoption through WHS right now, including 50 dogs who qualify for this weekend’s adoption event.
