If you’re looking to take out your horrid Metro commute frustrations this morning on something, take it out on the weather, not WMATA.
Every Metro line, save for the Blue line, was delayed in some capacity this morning because of train and track problems due to the frigid temperatures, including cracked rails and other malfunctions.
Green/Yellow Line: Trains are single tracking btwn College Park & PG Plaza due to a cracked rail. Delays in both directions.

In an email, WMATA spokesman Dan Stessel says that the cold temperatures are wreaking havoc on Metro’s tracks. “It was [in the] mid ’60s on [Sunday], single digits last night,” he says. “[T]hat expansion/contraction can cause cracks/breaks.” For further explanation, consult this handy Post infographic.
Anyway, the result of the cold weather has been some apocalyptic-level delays and crowding for Metro commuters:
