Up to six inches of snow blanketed D.C. over the night. As a result, most everything in the city—schools, federal, and city government—is closed, and public transportation is running on limited service. It’s a perfect excuse to take the day off, cook something warm, and curl up with a good book or movie. Or, conversely, you can go out and explore as if you’ve just set foot on a new planet.

Several contributors from out community Flickr pool did just that last night and snapped some gorgeous photos of the first significant snow storm of 2015.
