Because there aren’t enough places around town to put on a power suit and pretend you’re Frank Underwood, a new, politically-themed “escape room” is coming to Southeast.
For $20 per person, you and up to seven friends can be locked in a room at Escape Artist DC for 45 minutes to solve an exciting mystery find a piece of legislation.
According to the ‘House of Cards’ scenario, you are a “snoopy politician” searching for a bill and trying to figure out which representatives are in favor of it. The scenario will change every two months, according to owner Milind Raj. In the next installment, visitors will figure out the identity of a senator’s mistress.
For those trying to escape politics instead of being locked in a room with it, the other room is an art heist whodunit. Visitors play the part of detectives searching for a missing painting and the culprit. “A lot of the clues will be hidden in the art” on the walls, says Raj, an artist who is making the works himself.
Escape Artist DC—located at 720 I Street SE—will have a soft opening on April 7 and open to the public the next day.
