The Metropolitan Police Department is investigating two fatal shootings that occurred in Southeast yesterday.
The first shooting occurred at approximately 7:40 p.m. in the 300 block of 37th Street SE, close to the Fort Dupont Park. The Post reports that the victim was a teenager. The second shooting death happened in the 1300 block of Congress Street SE—about four miles from the previous shooting—at approximately 8:30 p.m. Police said a man was killed.
Police weren’t immediately able to give any additional information about both shootings, but told DCist they don’t believe they are related.
