In what has become an annual tradition, Capital Bikeshare once again set a new single-day ridership record thanks in large part to the cherry blossoms.

On Saturday, the second-to-last day of the festival—amid peak bloom madness—Bikesharers took 17,286 trips. That is an increase of about 1,500 trips from the comparable Saturday last year.

Meanwhile, CaBi is soliciting ideas for new station locations. The system’s fares are also set to go up for the first time at the end of the month. The annual fee will increase by $10 (riders have until the end of the month to get a new or renewed membership at the current rate) and the daily fee will go up by $1. They are also doing away with a $101 credit/debit card authorization hold for short-term memberships.
