One firefighter sustained life-threatening injuries, while a second firefighter and two other people were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries after a fire broke out this morning at an apartment building a few blocks north of the Washington Convention Center.
Firefighters have extinguished the blaze, Fire Department spokesman Timothy Wilson said. It occurred on the ninth floor of a building in the 1300 block of 7th Street NW, and several nearby streets were closed. A cause has not yet been determined.
