The fire broke out in the early morning in the 1600 block of Riggs Place NW. Roads remain closed in the area from Riggs Place NW to 16th Street NW, between R and T Streets NW, according to a spokeswoman for MPD.
Two other people were injured and taken to a local hospital, and three firefighters also suffered minor injuries. The condition of those injured and the ages and identities of the victims have not been released.
Thank you @dcfireems @IAFF36 for tremendous efforts in fighting the overnight fire on Riggs Pl. Injured members are in our thoughts. #ANC2B
