Families who have lost loved ones to gun violence are gathering at the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool tomorrow morning.

More than 20 organizations from around the country—among them Philadelphia-based Mothers In Charge, Baltimore-based SAVE (Survivors Against Violence Everywhere), and United Parents of Incarcerated Youth— will be in attendance at the “Standing for Peace and Justice” rally.

Their message is that:

  • “Homicide is not only a national tragedy, but it has become a public health epidemic in our communities across the nation.
  • Families who are left behind after a tragic violent act should have access to support so they can address the trauma experienced and rebuild their lives.
  • No surviving family member of a homicide should be denied victim services or compensation.”

The families plan to bring photos of the loved ones they have lost to violence. The rally will begin at 10 a.m. and go until 2 p.m.
