Almost a year ago, D.C. resident Erick Sanchez successfully raised $30,000 on Kickstarter (with the support of Jimmy Kimmel, and others) to get Kenny Loggins to play in his living room. Now, that dream is becoming a reality: Loggins and his band, The Blue Sky Riders, will be playing Sanchez’s house on Sunday, September 13.
Sanchez—who most recently petitioned and successfully convinced José Andrés to pull out of opening a restaurant in Donald Trump’s D.C. hotel—announced the concert today. He told DCist that he’s “really excited to have Kenny Loggins and Blue Sky Riders land their musical F-14 in my living room to convert it into the danger zone, with the cross streets being the highway to it.”
But if you’re hoping to cut loose to “Footloose” live in a stranger’s living room, don’t hold your breath. Right now, all the tickets to the show—50 of them—have been snatched up by Kickstarter backers who pledged $300 or more last year. However, Sanchez says that those who pledged $20 or more will be able to stream the show from the comfort of their own living rooms.
No word yet on if H. Jon Benjamin will take the highway to the Danger Zone (the Beltway) to Sanchez’s living room to introduce Loggins.
Anyway, here’s this:
