Today’s arbitrary ranking comes from TripAdvisor, who has ranked D.C. as the sixth-best city in the country for pizza.

Of course we’re no New York, Chicago, or New Haven, but sixth place? That’s … actually quite reasonable, I think. D.C. has never really been known as pizza town (jumbo slice though), but there’s been a lot of above average pizza restaurants that have popped up in the past several years (and TripAdvisor highlights them, name checking We the Pizza, Matchbox Pizza, and Pizzeria Paradiso as top places).

So who did we beat out? Las Vegas, San Diego, Phoenix, and Miami Beach. In addition to the three aforementioned titans of ‘za, both Orlando and San Francisco were deemed better pizza towns than D.C.

According to TripAdvisor, the ranking was based on three factors: the quality of pizza restaurant reviews; the quantity of pizza joints (and their reviews); and “the ratio of pizza restaurants and reviews compared to all restaurants for the city.”

TripAdvisor also ranked the top pizza restaurants in the country, but sadly none of them were in or around D.C.
