Update: U.S. Capitol Police have identified the driver of the vehicle that struck a U.S. Capitol barricade this morning as Antonio Pierorazio. The vehicle has since been cleared of containing any hazards and removed from the crash site.

Pierorazio, 51, has been charged with Felony Destruction of Property and Unlawful Entry. The South barricade of the Capitol remains temporarily closed.

One person is in custody after a vehicle struck the South Barricade of the U.S. Capitol Building this morning.

Few details were immediately available, but U.S. Capitol Police are currently investigating the incident and there are temporary street closures near the intersection of New Jersey Avenue and Independence Avenue SE.

D.C. Fire is also on the scene and officials say the vehicle did not enter the secure perimeter. We’ll update as more information becomes available.
