D.C. police are investigating two homicides that occurred over the weekend, both in Northwest D.C.
The first occurred in the 1500 block of First Street NW on Saturday at about 1 a.m. The Metropolitan Police Department say they responded to a call reporting gunshots and, upon arrival, located an unconscious, unresponsive adult male suffering from a gunshot wound. The decedent was identified as 27-year-old Lawrence Alonzo Carter.
On Saturday afternoon, at approximately 4:50 p.m., Third District officers responded to reports of a shooting at the 1800 block of 7th Street NW. Upon arrival, officers found a man, 23-year-old Matthew Castrol Shlonsky, suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to a nearby hospital where he died of his injuries.
Police are currently searching for suspects in both cases. In slaying of Shlonsky, police say they’re looking for a burgundy Chrysler 300, with Maryland tags. There’s currently a $25,000 reward for anyone that provides information leading to an arrest. Anyone with information should call (202) 727-9099 or send an anonymous tip to 50411.
