For the third time in as many weeks, a Bethesda church has found the ‘Black Lives Matter’ sign on their lawn vandalized. In two earlier instances, vandals cut ‘Black’ out of the banner. This time, the entire sign was taken out of the frame, which sits near the entrance to the River Road Unitarian Universalist Congregation in Bethesda.

After the second incident on Aug. 11, Rev. Louise Green wrote: “We are sad and angry about this violation of our public witness. We are not backing down and we remain in solidarity with the Black Lives Matter movement, as part of our UUA social justice action.”

Church leaders said they are in contact with the police and are considering what to do next.

Speaking to FOX5, Reverend Nancy Ladd said: “Vandalized twice and stolen once and we think that’s a pretty powerful indicator of the fact that frankly racism is alive and well in this country and right here in Bethesda.”

A police spokesperson has said that investigators have some leads and evidence.
