Marcus King, the 19-year-old wanted for the murder of 23-year-old Matthew Shlonsky, surrendered himself in authorities early this morning, D.C. police said.

According to the Metropolitan Police Department, King—who is being charged with Second Degree Murder While Armed—turned himself to the MPD’s homicide unit main office at approximately 4:30 a.m.

Authorities announced King as a suspect yesterday in a shootout in Shaw on Saturday, August 15 that killed Shlonsky. Shlonsky—a recent American University graduate—was getting out of a cab to attend a friend’s birthday party when he was caught in a shootout between two groups of people and a bullet struck him in the back. Police say they believe the bullet was meant for someone else.

The Post reports that the MPD have not determined a motive for what caused the shootout, “but thought the shooting could have stemmed from a dispute during a nearby dice game.”

Shortly after the homicide, the MPD released a video depicting six people and two vehicles they said were “of interest” in Shlonsky’s homicide. One of the vehicles, a stolen burgundy Chrysler 300 was later recovered, riddled with bullet holes.
