Update: The Crime Museum confirmed that the landlord has asked them to leave, despite their desire to come to a new agreement. “Due to various circumstances with our lease agreement, we really don’t have a choice. While we understand the DC real estate market is desirable, it doesn’t make it easy to digest,” said Janine Vaccarello, chief operating officer of the Crime Museum.

The Crime Museum unexpectedly announced that it is closing to the public at the end of September.
Citing “unforeseen circumstances,” the museum said they will operate as usual through September 30th, and then they’ll shutter the doors. The seven-year-old museum will continue running the “assassinations walking tour,” corporate offerings, and traveling programs after the closure.
In an email to a professional association, the Crime Museum’s chief operating officer said the landlord was kicking them out of their downtown space, Washingtonian reported. They are looking for new premises in the region.
