An Alexandria, Va. man is facing up to ten years in prison after he pled guilty to possessing child pornography.
In a release from the office of Acting U.S. Attorney for D.C. Vincent H. Cohen, 68-year-old Donald Essex pled guilty today, but was arrested on May 15 after an FBI sting resulted in the discovery of more than 600 images and videos of child pornography in Essex’s possession.
According to the Acting U.S. Attorney’s office, Essex got in touch with an undercover agent with the FBI’s Child Exploitation Task Force on May 14th through a social network site. Essex continued a conversation with the undercover agent—who claimed to be the father of an under-aged girl—about wanting to engage in sexual acts with her. He also sent the undercover agent about a dozen images of child pornography.
After Essex was identified by law enforcement agents, a warrant was obtained and his home was searched, where child pornography was discovered on his computer. He is scheduled to be sentenced on December 1st.
