A man was shot inside Union Station this afternoon by a security guard after he allegedly stabbed his girlfriend in a domestic dispute.

The Metropolitan Police Department confirmed the shooting at Union Station in a press conference this afternoon and said that a contracted security guard fired one round at the man, who reportedly stabbed his girlfriend and tried to flee the scene. Both the man and woman were transported to nearby hospitals for critical, but non-life-threatening injuries

Because it is 9/11, multiple agencies were in the vicinity and responded to the incident at Union Station. The Station was briefly evacuated while police investigated the incident and determined it to be safe. Right now, all Metro, Amtrak, and MARC trains are running through Union Station normally again.
