The man who was fatally shot by a security guard at Union Station on Friday has been identified as 57-year-old William Thomas Wilson, Jr. of Southeast D.C., police announced over the weekend.

On Friday, September 11th, Wilson, Jr. was shot by a security guard after the two had a brief altercation following Wilson, Jr.’s stabbing of a woman. The Post reports the security guard witnessed Williams, Jr. stab a woman outside of Union Station following a domestic dispute (the nature of their relationship was “not immediately clear,” according to the Post).

Afterward, the security guard chased Williams, Jr. into Union Station near a McDonald’s and shot him at approximately 12:45 p.m. after he refused to drop the knife and threatened the guard. Though authorities initially said Williams, Jr.’s injuries were non-life-threatening, he died later in the afternoon. The woman’s condition has not been released but at the time, police said her injuries were non-life-threatening.
