>> Música Popular Brasileira, or MPB, is a Brazilian style of music that takes traditional genres like samba and blends them with jazz and rock. Roberto Junior is a specialist in MPB and forró, another Brazilian form that originated the northeastern part of the country. >> Twin brothers and area natives, Peter and Will Anderson are both rising woodwind artists. They will lead a group on Thursday at the Mansion at Strathmore. 7:30 p.m. sets. Tickets $30.

>> Area saxophonist Brad Linde’s new project, Useless Machines, presents jazz compositions inspired by kinetic sculptures, the artwork of Alexander Caulder and Bruno Munari, and musical concepts of Earle Brown and John Cage. >> John Hammond is one of the world’s premiere acoustic blues artists who has released dozens of recordings over a career spanning more than 50 years. He will be at The Hamilton on Friday for an 8:30 p.m. show. Tickets $20-$25.

>> Christian Scott aTunde Adjuah is considered among the finest trumpeters of his generation. He comes to Bohemian Caverns often, and returns to the historic club on Friday and Saturday to lead his ensemble in celebration of its latest release, Stretch Music. >> James Lloyd is a founding member of the celebrated smooth jazz group, Pieces of a Dream. The keyboardist will be at AMP on Saturday to lead his own band. 8 p.m. Tickets $35-$45.

>> Sai is a North Carolina-based violinist whose band plays jazz with a heavy soul influence. She will bring her ensemble to Twins Jazz on Sunday. 8 and 10 p.m. sets. Tickets $10 plus minimum and surcharge.

>> The Fourth Stream draws South Asian, Middle Eastern, and other global influences, in addition to contemporary jazz and rock sounds. The band will bring its improvised grooves to the Bossa Bistro & Lounge on Sunday. 8:30 p.m. No cover.

>> Brad Linde is one of the busiest voices on the local jazz scene. In addition to co-directing the Bohemian Caverns Jazz Orchestra and producing many of the jazz performances at the Atlas, he also leads several distinct ensembles under his own name. Linde is serving as September’s artist-in-residence at Bohemian Caverns and each Tuesday this month will feature a different lineup. 7:30 and 9 p.m. sets. Tickets $10 in advance/$15 at the door.

>> Drummer Greg Grainger and his brother, ace bassist Gary Grainger, are Baltimore natives who have toured the world behind celebrated acts like John Scofield and Acoustic Alchemy.
