Police have identified a 29-year-old man who was shot and killed last night around 8:25 p.m. near the U Street corridor, and announced the arrest of another 29-year-old man in the case.

When police responded to the 1400 block of V Street NW, they found Delany Christopher Epps suffering from gunshot wounds and transported him to the hospital, where he later died. Police also arrested a suspect several minutes after arriving on the scene, who they identified today as Raphael Antonio Roy. He has been charged with first degree murder while armed.

Four weekend homicides pushed D.C.’s total for the year to 115; Epps death is now the 116th. This time last year, there were 80.
