The victim reported to police that a man sat down next to her, exposed himself and began inappropriately touching himself. She asked the suspect to move so she could leave her seat and he responded by placing his hand on her and asking, “Why are you leaving so soon?” The victim managed to push her way past the suspect and report the incident to a family member who then called the police. She was not physically injured.
Police say they were able to track Lopez down by reviewing surveillance footage from several Metro stations. He is currently being held on felony child abuse charges without bond until a pretrial hearing scheduled for this Friday.
“This case has been an extremely high priority for us since it was reported,” Metro Transit Police Chief Ron Pavlik said in a statement. “While such behavior is never tolerated, these allegations are particularly disturbing because they involve a minor.”
