A low-speed derailment was reported after a 1000-series railcar moved into a service and inspection building this morning, according to a Metro spokesperson. The incident occurred at the Brentwood Rail Yard at 8:36 a.m. With one set of wheels off the track, the rest of railcar #1145 remained upright and on the rails.

There were no injuries, says the spokesperson, nor interruption to regularly scheduled service. An internal investigation is underway, and the car remains off track.

The 1000-series is the oldest in Metro’s fleet—having been in service since the system’s opening in 1976. They are slated to be replaced by the 7000-series.

Last week, the Federal Transit Administration assumed safety oversight for the WMATA.
