Mayor Muriel Bowser will make her rounds at some of the city’s newest developments tomorrow. Billed as the first “Scissors and Shovels” day, she’ll visit six developments—most of which are east of the Anacostia—that will either break ground or open for business.

Making due on promises to address affordable housing and homelessness, three of the projects offer over 300 permanent, supportive and affordable housing units. She’ll also cut ribbons on businesses tackling the food desert in east of the river communities—Sala Thai in Ward 7 and Turning Natural Juice Bar in Ward 8. The last project is a $17 million dollar renovation and expansion of the Kenilworth Recreation Center, in a neighborhood that’s also expecting revitalization through new town homes that should “attract new residents, bring in new retail, and become safer,” reported Greater Greater Washington.

Mayor Bowser will start the morning at 10 a.m. announcing the expansion of a major technology company.

Toward the end of his reign, Mayor Vince Gray spent a day cutting ribbons on 17 restaurants, shops, and public art projects in Shaw, reported Washingtonian last year. Beat that Bowser.

Anyway, here is tomorrow’s lineup:
