Oh Christmas tree, oh Christmas tree, how local are your branches?
A new guide from the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services wants to help people answer that age-old question. The 2015 Virginia Grown Christmas Tree Guide lists where people can find a tree sprouted from the commonwealth’s soil, as well as the type of tree, directions, and other information to help people in their holiday search.
According to the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, horticulture is the sixth largest growing agricultural segment in the state.
First flagged by WNEW, this seasonal category joins year-round listings of different products produced in Virginia like seafood, produce, specialty products and more.
The guide does not get into the kind of detail sought by the couple in the classic Portlandia sketch about buying local.
