Winter so far has been essentially a big, warmed over joke, but that’s all changing. Today you’ll likely experience the coldest weather since March 2015, meteorologist Steve Prinzivalli told WTOP, and Capital Weather Gang agrees.
If you didn’t already think the first day back after a holiday was brutal, the temperatures won’t rise above the 30’s with wind chills in the 20’s. There have even been flurries throughout the region, with the potential for more snow.
You might want to say goodbye to the blossoms, because tonight’s temperatures will dip into the teens and 20’s. Then again, the temperature is expected to be back in the 50’s by the weekend, so hopefully you’ll be able to swim in the ice rinks soon.
If you see someone on the streets tonight, here’s how to help them:
- Call the Shelter Hotline toll-free at 1-800-535-7252.
- Email uposh@upo.org with the time when the person was seen, their specific location, and a description of the person’s appearance.
- Call 911, if you see someone on the street that needs immediate assistance.
