UPDATE: Big D’s Pony Rides will be replacing Peppermint Pony as the pony vendor. They will be bringing 2 ponies instead of a pony and a miniature horse. In addition, their sister company, Dream Shire Carriage, will be offering carriage rides starting at 12:30 p.m. in front of the Williard Hotel.
This Sunday, take a break from cuddling with cats in Georgetown to pet a pony on 14th Street.
That’s right—a pony and a miniature horse (which is about 20 inches shorter than a pony) will post up outside of The Source (1835 14th Street, NW).
While your typical D.C. pop-up serves everything from lobsters and burgers to booze, the main entrée here will likely be hay as passersby are encouraged to feed the animals.
The animals are provide by Peppermint Pony and will be used to promote Constellation Theatre’s upcoming performance of Equus—a play about a troubled teen whose dangerous obsession with horses leads him to commit “an unspeakable act of violence.”
The Pony Pop-Up will take place between 12 and 3 p.m.
