Update: The Marie Reed Aquatic Center reopened Wednesday morning.
Hoping to take a swim today? Well, if your plans included diving into the pool at the Marie Reed Aquatic Center, you’re out of luck.
Right now, the D.C. Parks and Recreation-run spot in Adams Morgan is temporarily closed. “There is no hot water there,” says DPR spokesperson Gwendolyn Crump. “Additionally, the heat is not operational at Marie Reed.”
“DPR was notified of the lack of hot water in the female locker room by guests. D.C. law requires us to suspend operations of an aquatic facilities when hot water is not available. The issue was reported and is being repaired by the Department of General Services,” Crump says. She did not have an estimated time for the repair’s completion.

While Marie Reed is out of service, a number of other indoor pools remain open. Plus, we could all be swimming in snow by the end of the week.
And Marie Reed isn’t the only DPR spot felled by a lack of heat. The Chevy Chase Community Center is also temporarily closed due to heating issues, with all classes for the day canceled.
