Update: Capital Bikeshare resumed limited service at 3:30 p.m. in D.C., Arlington, and Alexandria. Montgomery County stations will remain closed until tomorrow as they continue to dig the fleet out. Activated stations are marked on their app and this map, and additional ones will come online on a rolling basis. For the time being, staff won’t be rebalancing the system.

Today, folks can get a view of D.C.’s snow-capped monuments from the tallest building in town. Tickets at the Washington Monument were available at 9 a.m. today—the first trip up will be at noon.

Other openings for today:

  • DCPS is back in session.
  • Smithsonian museums are open, save for the Udvar-Hazy Center at the National Air and Space Museum.
  • The National Zoo will open at 10 a.m.
  • Ford’s Theatre National Historic Site will open at 11:30 a.m.
  • All National Mall and Memorial Parks sites and facilities will open at noon.
  • And in transportation news, the only Metrorail service that isn’t running today is the Rush Plus Yellow Service, when the Yellow Line goes between Franconia-Springfield and Greenbelt. Trains are operating every 8 minutes. And Metrobus is running on a “moderate” weather service plan with 160 routes.

Mayor Muriel Bowser also announced that the snow emergency will be lifted at 6:30 p.m.
