>> Stanley Clarke was barely out of his teens when he turned the bass playing world on its ear in the early ’70s. His combination of musicality and virtuosity have made him a successful bandleader, sideman, and producer in genres ranging from acoustic jazz to funk to film soundtracks. >> Mack Avenue Records is one of the country’s premiere jazz labels and it has assembled a super group from its impressive roster of artists. The Mack Avenue SuperBand features musical directors Gary Burton (vibraphone) and Christian McBride (bass), with Tia Fuller (saxophone), Dominick Farinacci (trumpet), and McBride’s trio mates, Carl Allen (drums) and Christian Sands (piano). The sextet plays the Kennedy Center on Friday. 7 and 9 p.m. sets. Tickets $30.
