Much like one of the arthouse horror films you might have seen at West End Cinema, the movie theater you once presumed dead has come back to life stronger than before.
West End Cinema will reopen on April 1, after closing a few weeks ago for renovations.
Landmark Theatre—the folks behind E Street Cinema, Atlantic Plumbing Cinema, and Bethesda Row Cinema—took over the theater last July after the previous, independent owner said he couldn’t keep the business afloat.
Landmark has renovated the theater with larger screens, “supple” leather seats, and more food options.
West End will be showing off its new look at relaunch parties on April 5 and 6. The cinema says it hasn’t firmed up yet which movies it will screen when it reopens.
Landmark is currently embroiled in a lawsuit with Regal Cinemas, who runs the Gallery Place movie theater. Landmark claims that Regal, as the country’s biggest movie theater chain, uses its monopoly power to prevent the smaller theater from screening commercial films.
