After five consecutive weekends of Metrorail service sans track work, accommodating cherry blossom festival goers, the smooth rides are over—single tracking and delays are upon us. And Metro is coming back strong with service adjustments on all six lines.
This weekend, trains will operate every 10-20 minutes on the Red, Orange, Blue, and Silver Lines. Plus, Yellow Line trains will operate to/from Mount Vernon Square, rather than Fort Totten. So if you’re traveling north of Mount Vernon Square, expect to hop off to catch the Green Line. And on Saturday and Sunday, free shuttles will replace Green Line trains between College Park and Greenbelt.
Red Line
Trains every 18 minutes | 12:01 a.m. Saturday until closing Sunday
Single tracking between Van Ness and Dupont Circle to allow for rail, fastener and insulator renewal.
Orange Line

Single tracking between Eastern Market and Stadium-Armory to allow for grout pad rehabilitation, joint elimination, rail, fastener and insulator renewal.
Silver Line

Silver Line trains will operate at regular weekend intervals between Wiehle-Reston East and Ballston only. Customers traveling to/from other stations should use Orange and/or Blue line trains to complete their trip. At Ballston, transfer between Silver and Orange line trains on the same platform.
Blue Line

Single tracking between Eastern Market and Stadium-Armory to allow for grout pad rehabilitation, joint elimination, rail, fastener and insulator renewal.

Throughout the weekend, Green Line service will operate at regular weekend intervals between College Park and Branch Ave stations. On Saturday and Sunday, buses will replace trains between College Park and Greenbelt to allow for pedestrian bridge replacement and construction of a new test track to accept Metro’s new fleet of 7000-series railcars. Free shuttle buses will run between College Park and Greenbelt.
