How would you like to live near Dupont Circle, in a building with a front desk and rooftop pool, just steps from the Metro station and a Starbucks? That’s what landlords think you’re looking for, anyway, according to a ranking by real estate website Zillow.
When you factor out neighborhood names and generic terms from D.C. rental ads, some of the other most common terms that are used to entice renters include: Capital Bikeshare, Busboys and Poets, Vida, Chipotle, Big Bear, Trader Joes, and Harris Teeter.
Zillow compiled the list, which was first reported on by UrbanTurf, based on descriptions for rentals published on the site. To avoid counting similar phrases, they shortened words to their root (the idea being that “tile floor” would represent similar phrases like “tiled floor,” “tiled flooring” and “tile floors,” they explain), though in practice it also resulted in things like Foggi Bottom.
The search term that dominated the list was Dupont Circle, followed closely by Metro station; Adams Morgan and Union Station were also up there. As for amenities, front desk and Starbucks were among the most popular.
