In response to a Tom Sietsema zero-star review that was so scathing it spawned several articles gleefully noting how scathing it was, Founding Farmers punched back with: hey, we still served more than half a million people last year.

In a Facebook post, they thanked guests who’ve sent in notes of support and directly responded to the review with, whatevs: “everyone is entitled to their own opinion.”

But the point that most people seem to have missed, though Sietsema led the review with it, is that Founding Farmers is wildly popular—and it will almost continue to be so. Washington City Paper reporter Jessica Sidman pointed out that it was booked more than 900 times before the day was even over yesterday. Plus, Sietsema had only given it half a star in his first review, and that didn’t seem to put a dent in their popularity.

With a giant menu (figuratively and literally), there’s something for everyone. Much of it nods to foodie trends without coming across as finicky. And the portion sizes are generous. That’s good enough for a very healthy portion of the 575,000 people they served last year at their D.C. location alone. According to Founding Farmers, 95 percent said they would recommend it to friends.
