>> Tuelo Minah formed her band, Tuelo, in 2013. Her sound draws from R&B and soul, as well as her native Tswana-Bushmen rhythms. Tuelo performs a free outdoor concert tonight at Strathmore. 7 p.m.

>> Pianist Joe Vetter plays 8 and 10 p.m. sets tonight at Twins Jazz. Tickets $10 plus minimum and surcharge.

>> Trombonist Shannon Gunn will lead her Firebird Organ Quartet on Friday at Old Engine 12, playing a mix of jazz and funk. The night’s last set will be a jam session, so people are encouraged to bring their instruments. 8 to 11 p.m. No cover.

>> Violinist Dave Kline and his band headline Gypsy Sally’s on Saturday, drawing from global rhythms and melodies. Scott Slay & The Rail opens. 8 p.m. Tickets $10 in advance/$14 at the door.

>> Pianist Amy K. Bormet was a mainstay of the local scene and founded the Washington Women in Jazz Festival, but is now based out of L.A. She has returned to the area for a spell and will host a Sunday concert series in July at Robert Harper Books. The first show takes place on Sunday and features Bormet along with bassist Maggie Hasspacher as they play a song cycle Bormet composed that was inspired the poetry of Gwendolyn Brooks. Tickets $12 in advance/$15 at the door. Bormet will also lead a trio at the Jazz & Cultural Society the previous night. 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. $10 at the door.

>> CapitalBop returns to Union Arts on Sunday to present its monthly Jazz Loft. The show will feature up-and-coming tenor saxophonists Jamal Moore and Elijah Easton leading groups along with vocalist Heidi Martin and her band. 7:30 p.m. $15 suggested donation.

>> The Sobel 4tet is a Virginia-based group led by flutist and vocalist Gina Sobel, playing music inspired by various sub-genres in jazz as well as elements in the natural world. The band plays 8 and 10 p.m. sets on Sunday at Twins Jazz. Tickets $10 plus minimum and surcharge.

>> The Sandcatchers formed in Brooklyn and combine the sinuous sounds of the Middle East with those of Appalachia. The group will be at the Bossa Bistro & Lounge on Sunday along with opener Huda Asfour. 8 p.m. $5 at the door.

>> We’re still upset over the loss of Bohemian Caverns as one of D.C.’s jazz hubs. WPFW 89.3 honors the clubs legacy on Monday at the Bethesda Blues & Jazz Supper Club. This special occasion will be hosted by Quincy Phillips and features a number of artists who graced the stage of Bohemian Caverns and performed for WPFW programming. 7 to 11 p.m. Tickets $25-$89.
