Looking to go undercover? Arlington Transit has an opportunity for you.

The agency is looking for “mystery riders” to evaluate the ART buses, namely “if the driver is friendly and professional with riders, if the driver is operating the bus smoothly and safely, if the bus arrived on time and if the bus is kept clean.”

The city wants people to evaluate the bus’ services during different times, and will coordinate the scheduling.

Mystery riders need to attend a training session first, where presumably they’ll learn all about the subterfuge necessary to succeed in the task at hand. While volunteers will have their riding expenses covered by a SmarTrip that Arlington Transit provides, the only compensation will come in the form of an adrenaline rush.

In addition to building a network of informants, ART also encourages commuters to compete over poetry.
