This weekend, half of Metrorail’s lines will experience delays due to scheduled maintenance.

The Red Line, impacted by Safetrack’s sixth surge, will run every 8 to 15 minutes. The Blue and Silver Lines will be single tracking for maintenance work, and operating every 24 minutes. Meanwhile, relief comes on the Orange, Yellow, and Green Lines, which will run on a regular weekend service schedule.

The sixth surge hit the eastern portion of the Red Line on Monday. It means continuous single tracking between Takoma and Silver Spring, causing residual effects through NoMa and less pronounced delays on much of the rest of the line. It ends August 7. Delays will come to the western end of the Red Line on August 9, with single tracking between Shady Grove and Twinbrook until August 18, in the seventh surge.
