You may want to skip your dinner date and order in tonight. For the second night in a row, the National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm storm watch for D.C. and neighboring areas. It’s in effect until 11 p.m, and there’s also a slight chance of showers between midnight and 3 a.m.
The Capital Weather Gang says the storms could bring gusty winds, and in the event that the watch evolves into a warning, “seek shelter in a sturdy building.”

Although D.C. is reaching the end of a recent heat wave, the NWS also issued a heat advisory earlier today that’s in effect until 8 p.m.. It’ll feel like temperatures are between 105 and 109 degrees.
