A video that shows a D.C. Police officer holding a black woman against a police car as her feet dangle was posted to Twitter on Monday afternoon.

According to the Twitter user @MacandCheeks, the altercation happened right before posting the video, though requests for comment were not returned. As of this morning, the video has been retweeted more than 5,700 times.

The incident occurred at the corner of 7th and T streets NW, right by the Shaw/Howard Metro, according to the person who posted the video. The Twitter user posted subsequent videos saying that the woman was not searched or arrested by the officers.

“MPD has been made aware of this video and has contacted the officers’ commander. We’ll continue to investigate this matter further,” D.C. Police said in a statement. In response to inquiries over Twitter about this video, MPD repeated the statement in replies around 65 times.

MPD told The Washington Post that the department was trying to get in touch with the woman pictured in the video, and determine her age.

The Twitter user posted a video of Shadon, 32, identified as the woman in the previous video. She says she is a schoolteacher nearby “It’s harassment,” she says. “There’s no reason for you to assume there’s somebody out here doing the wrong thing.”
