A car struck a bicyclist yesterday afternoon in a hit-and-run crash. The incident took place around 5:30 p.m. near Rock Creek Church Road and Warder Street NW, according to Karimah Bilal of the Metropolitan Police Department
Police found a car near the scene that they believe was involved in the incident, The Washington Post reports. A Petworth resident related to The Post that after the crash, someone told him “the driver left the car near the intersection and fled.”
After being hit, neighbors told The Post the female cyclist tried to get out of the street, and “appeared concerned about her bicycle.” Bystanders suggested that she not move until officials came to take her to a hospital.
Police say the victim was injured, but her current condition is unknown.
