You need look no further than Ivy City and NoMa to know that D.C.’s distilling scene is on fire. Now, U Street is getting a combination distillery, bar, and restaurant—opening tonight.

District Distilling Co. has set up shop in row houses at the corner of 14th Street, and they completed their first distillation run earlier this week. The distillery says they will be producing vodka, gin, white rum and bourbon. Starting next month, you’ll be able to purchase your own bottles to take home, and they plan to roll out more spirits this fall.

The bar’s drink list will spotlight American small-batch distilleries and breweries. It will also have hand-picked wines and mocktails. They will be serving drinks meant to be shared called “shift punches,” which are “quickly composed draft cocktails typically comprised of a liquor, an amaro or liqueur, and bitters.” General manager Said Haddad told Eater DC it was an alternative to bottle service.

The kitchen will be serving seasonal American fare, which includes items like a a crispy pig ear salad, whiskey-rubbed smoked salmon and creme brûlée donuts (!!!). Entrees for dinner start at $17. They also boast a late-night menu that includes poutine, pork rinds and the “corridor vodka pairing” which includes Russian salad, paddlefish fish roe and smoked trout. Its weekend brunch will be starting soon.

The first floor is a distillery and retail space where you’ll be able to buy the booze once that is rolled out. On the second floor, there will be a full-service kitchen and bar that will seat about 140 guests. There is also separate private space for events and groups.

District Distilling Co. is located at 1414 U Street NW
