District Distilling Co. Unveils Its Line of Spirits
The U Street restaurant finally rolls out its own booze, including a rum inspired by a colonial-era method and a Checkerbark American dry-style gin.
D.C.’s newest distillery wants to change how you drink, and think about, rum.
Chacho is a new liquor available only in D.C. that has a sweetness from the sugarcane along with a spicy kick from jalapeños.
The distillery just started its first batch this week, but you can enjoy food and a drink menu focused on small batch-cocktails and brews in the meantime.
If you haven’t visited yet, it’s is a ready-made route for a leisurely weekend of sipping fresh beer and booze.
New Columbia Distillers will start making gin later this month, which means that it will be ready for the public by August.

D.C. Distillery Receives Federal Approval
A distillery hoping to produce gin and whiskey in a warehouse in Northeast D.C. received federal approval to move forward with its plans, according to a tweet this afternoon from the New Columbia Distillers.
