Sean “Diddy” Combs handed a $1 million check to Howard University President Wayne Frederick last night during his Bad Boy Reunion concert at the Verizon Center.

“Howard University is my family!!” Diddy wrote in a Facebook post. “One of the biggest blessings is to be able to support those who supported me!! TONIGHT is a very special night on this tour!!”

The money will be used to establish the Sean Combs Scholarship Fund, according to a release from Howard. The university will start awarding scholarships next fall to undergraduate business students who have at least a 3.0 GPA and need financial assistance. Scholarship recipients will also intern at Bad Boy Entertainment or Revolt Media & TV, in addition to being assigned a Combs Enterprises representative as a mentor.

“The University is grateful for Mr. Combs’ ongoing efforts to open doors for talented, hard-working individuals and improve their chances of navigating the way to personal and professional fulfillment,” president Frederick said.

Diddy attended the historically black college, but dropped out in the late ’80s. However, in 2014, the university presented him with an honorary doctorate degree.

The announcement comes less than two weeks after Howard jumped 11 spots on U.S. News & World Report’s latest national college rankings.
