It’s time to get out your galoshes, as weather experts say the D.C. region will experience significant downpours over the next couple of days.

The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood watch that will remain in effect from late tonight through Friday morning.

The Capital Weather Gang says the region will get about 3 inches for sure, but amounts range between one to eight inches. Rain will be heavy and steady from tonight and tomorrow night, meaning you should essentially cancel all outdoor activities tomorrow.

While some rain is needed because of a dry spell in August, too much rain would cause “streams to rise and overflow their banks, and poor drainage areas to be overcome,” according to GWG.
