It’s time to dust off your black cat ears and slink into the night: tickets are on sale now for the Smithsonian’s National Zoo’s frighteningly fun adults-only Halloween event, Night of the Living Zoo. The event, hosted by Friends of the National Zoo (FONZ), will be held Friday, October 28, from 6:30 to 10 p.m. With performance artists, live band karaoke, craft beer and wine, food trucks, a costume contest, altar displays, and DJ Squirrel spinning spooky beats, it’s a wicked night of fun, all in the name of conservation.

All guests are invited to visit the Trail de Calaveras, home of the Day of the Dead altar displays, live music, and delicious Latin fare, dedicated to the memory of loved ones and pop culture icons. Register now to create your own Day of the Dead altar or spooky Halloween scene. The best designed display wins a special Zoo experience. The Day of the Dead altar displays will be joined by a traditional “offerenda,” or altar, where guests can add their own memory of loved ones. Learn more at the event website.

Ready to get down after dark? General admission tickets are $20 for FONZ members and $30 for nonmembers. VIP tickets are going for $55 for FONZ members and $85 for nonmembers. VIP ticket holders will have access to the exclusive VIP Bar and Lounge, where they will receive complimentary hors d’oeuvres from top restaurants like Joe’s Stone Crab and Mon Ami Gabi, exclusive animal demonstrations, music by DJ Bulldog, a private dance floor and two complimentary adult elixirs. Proceeds from Night of the Living Zoo benefit animal conservation at the Smithsonian’s National Zoo and around the world.
