Today is the last day for Washingtonians to register to vote online, or by snail mail.

People who send in their applications through an online form have until October 30 for them to be received, and those who mail applications must have them postmarked by the 30th.

To register by mail, you must have a driver’s license number, DMV- issued ID number, or a social security number. If it’s your first time, you’ll also need a copy another document such as a current and valid government photo ID, a current utility bill, or a current bank statement.

District residents can also register same-day to vote at the polls, either on November 8 or during early voting (which begins on October 22 at One Judiciary Square, and October 28 in the other wards).

Meanwhile in Virginia, voters must register or update their addresses by October 17. And Maryland’s deadline is October 18. Neither state allows same-day voter registration.
